Caledonia - Visit becomes Fraternal Print
Monday, 25 January 2010 00:00

Caledonia Burn's Night 2010The occasion was the annual Burn's night at Lodge Caledonia on Monday, 25 January. The WM, having published his intended visits for the month, was elated when it was realised that seven other members were also in attendance resulting in the decision to enter as a Fraternal, albeit without collars.

Our entry was announced by our Tyler, and former DC, W Bro. Warren Barsley. The Fraternal also included VW Bro. David Slater (Secretary), Bro. Russ Richards (Chaplain), W Bro. Keith Cossart (Caring Officer), Bro. Alex Slater (IG), W Bro. John Tregellas-Williams and Bro. John Morris (Assistant Secretary).

Caledonia Burn's Night 2010

The visitors to Lodge Caledonia included five Installed Masters namely: W Bro. Roman Cholawinskyj (Commonwealth), W Bro. Edwin Power (William Ross), W Bro. Alan Carnall (Gowrie), W Bro. Sangeet Gupta (Capitol) and W Bro. Phil Higgs (Ethos). Two Masters led fraternals (Lodges Commonwealth and William Ross), resulting in approximately 46 brethren in the Lodge room. The Festive Board, which included partners and guests, could have been misinterpreted as being an Installation.

Following the Address to the Haggis we were entertained by very talented Scottish dancers and the Canberra City Pipes and Drums team which included Bro James King on Bag Pipes who had only minutes before been elected as Lodge Caledonia's next WM for Installation in March.

Caledonia Burn's Night 2010

The WM of Lodge Caledonia, W Bro. Iain Crawford, is to be congratulated on the manner in which this occasion was organised and delivered in particular the involvement of family.

The WM extends his heartfelt appreciation to the brethren who supported him on this occasion and his thanks to VW Bro. David Slater and Bro. John Morris for being equipt with cameras thus enabling this article to be published.
