On Sunday, the 2nd of May, Lodge Commonwealth facilitated one of the District's regular community services - Feeding the Needy. W Bro. Robert Guth, our SW, again excelled by preparing the meals at his home and transporting the same to the Griffin Centre to be met by a small but enthusiastic number of assistants.

Robert excelled by preparing an additional menu item to supplement the Spaghetti Bolognese, namely Lasagne. The clientele must have sensed that an enhanced menu was on offer and descended upon the servery in an almost relentless stream. We served more meals than had been served on any day over the previous month. Our small but more than capable team were kept busy and indeed the shutters were closed a few minutes before 6pm after the final meal was served by the delightful Veronica with her customary smile and trade mark "bon appetit".

Robert and Veronica managed the servery proper while W Bro. Roman Cholawinskyj assumed command over the sink and Bro. Alex Slater commendered the tea-towel. Bro. Ray Newcombe busilly filled gaps by managing an array of other duties which included ensuring that Roman and Alex were not idle at the sink.

Veronica, Bro. Daniel Alarcon, Alex and VW Bro. David Slater are all Feeding the Needy coordinators.
