On 5 December, Lodge Commonwealth celebrated its annual Installation with all those involved performing well. Special mention must be made of the Installing Master, RW Bro Warren Turton, who did a magnificent job and the new WM, W Bro Roman Cholawinskyj who, should he continue as he began, will provide us with a great year.

There were fraternals from Lodges Concord Technology, Woden Valley and Gowrie, and visitors from Lodge Ethos, Lodge Caledonia, Lodge of Truth Braidwood, Lodge Cooma Monaro, Lodge Queanbeyan St Andrew, Lodge Capitol and Lodge Perfect, and one brother from South Australia.

The Grand Delegation consisted of RW Bro Derek Robson, DGM, accompanied by 24 Grand Officers. There were 28 members and 41 visitors present, including four EAFs and three FCFs in attendance. Roman did a great job investing his officers. This was followed by a musical item, Love is Blue, by W Bro Russ Handcock on the violin and RW Bro John Le Mesurier on the organ.

The DGM addressed the brethren, and presented the WM with his installation certificate. The DGIW presented the Installing Master with a bar to his PM’s jewel and RW Bro Warren Turton also received a certificate from Lodges Gowrie and Commonwealth; he had been the WM of Lodge Gowrie for three years followed by two years as the WM of Lodge Commonwealth.

This was a special evening, not only because of Roman’s installation, but also because it celebrated the 80th anniversary of Lodge Commonwealth of Australia’s consecration. It was also just over 40 years since the consecration of Lodge Campbell.
