Freemasonry in France Print
Thursday, 25 February 2010 00:00

RW Bro. Bob NairnPreparations for our regular meeting on 25th February were abruptly modified when it was found that the intended ceremony could not proceed. With only four days notice our Education Officer, RW Bro. Bob Nairn PSGW KL, prepared and delivered an interesting and thought provoking lecture entitled "Freemasonry in France".

The meeting was well attended by our members but visitor numbers were lower than expected, attributed to the cancellation of the intended ceremony.

Our visitors included W Bro. Alan Carnall, WM Lodge Gowrie and his SW, W Bro. Malcolm Mann. We were delighted to also receive Bro. Jeff Moon who has relocated to Canberra and travels to Sydney each month to attend his Lodge.

The shorter meeting resulted in a less formal evening enhanced by a particularly enjoyable Festive Board. Members and visitors were greeted with a succulent roast chicken meal prepared by our SW, W Bro. Robert Guth, who was ably assisted by several members who served the meals. The main meal was followed by a generous serving of cake and ice-cream.

Our JW, W Bro. Ben Bopf, was unable to attend the meeting due to his attendance on a two week professional training course. The JW's chair was ably filled by W Bro. Keith Cossart. VW Bro. Graeme Moller, DC, who is currently nursing a brace on his right foot, was assisted by W Bro. Sid Penhaligon who confidently performed the duties of DC for the evening. In the latter stages of the meeting the SW's chair was filled by Graeme thus allowing Robert to retire and prepare the Festive Board.

A great night was enjoyed by all.
